FAQS for e-Commerce Payment Gateway
Who can sign up for UBL Ecommerce payment gateway merchant account?
Any online business based in Pakistan. It has to be a business registered in Pakistan with SECP or a Sole Proprietor Business based in Pakistan with a valid NTN
Does UBL Ecommerce payment gateway accept international card payments?
Yes, Internal credit and debit card payments are accepted
Does UBL Ecommerce payment gateway accept debit and credit cards?
Yes
Which schemes does UBL Ecommerce payment gateway support?
Visa and MasterCard
What are the commercials for UBL Ecommerce Payment Gateway?
The commercials vary depending on the business quantum. The higher the business volume, the competitive the pricing. Commercials comprise of MDR (%), One-time setup fee and Annual membership fee
Do you support API integration?
Yes. PCI DSS compliant merchants may integrate with our card API
Do you support processing multi-currency support?
Not as of now. However, it is in process. Merchant will be able to charge the customer in their selected local currency and UBL will settle the payment in PKR
Can I get my International payments settled in USD or other foreign currency?
No. Payments are settled with merchant only in PKR
How long it takes for the funds to be settled in my account?
Settlement timeline varies from business to business depending on the risk factor associated to nature of business and the commercials that are proposed to the merchant.
Can I settle funds in a non UBL (other) bank account?
No. Payments will be settled in your UBL business account.
Can I get my payments settled via cheque/pay order?
No. Settlement can only be done in your UBL bank account.
How long does it take for refunds to be processed and settled with customer?
Refunds are processed by UBL same day when refund request is shared by merchant. Funds are settled with customer within 7 working days. This may vary in some cases as issuer may not settle the funds with customers on time but the frequency is low and it’s not dependent on UBL.
Do I get transaction reports?
Yes, you will get access to our merchant portal from where transaction report will be available at all times.
Will I get transaction status in real time?
Yes. The transaction status is updated in the transaction report in merchant portal in real-time. You may further integrate with our enquiry API to fetch the order status against every order ID.
Do you support integration plugins?
Yes, we do. We offer plugin for WooCommerce, Magento and Shopify.
Do you allow the merchant to save customer card information?
Yes. You may use Tokenization to save secure card tokens at your end. Customer will not have to re-enter their card details again and again.
Do you support recurring transactions?
Yes we do. We support both 3DS and Non 3DS recurring transactions.
Do you support 3DS transactions?
UBL Ecommerce Payment Gateway is 3D secure. All transactions processed are 3D secure.
Do you support non 3DS transactions?
Yes, we do support non 3DS transactions upon merchant’s request. Liability is transferred to the merchant in this case.
Do you have a fraud guard in place to save merchant from fraud risk?
Yes we do have a fraud guard in place. It evaluates each transaction on the defined fraud control parameters and only authorizes transactions that do not fall under the defined parameters.
Can a merchant (marketplace etc) sub lead card processing services to other sellers or merchants using their merchant ID and credentials?
This is not possible. This will lead to a regulatory non-compliance and is strictly prohibited. Use of any such case without UBL’s knowledge may lead to legal action and financial exposure for the merchant. The merchant may contact UBL and opt for a payment facilitator model for which the requirement is different.
Will I get a reconciliation report for the funds settled?
Yes. Your account manager at UBL will be sharing the settlement reconciliation report every month or on need basis.
How are chargebacks handled?
Chargeback is processed as per global scheme rules. Once dispute is received from scheme, merchant is notified and required to share the supporting docs which varies from nature of dispute. Received supporting documents are shared with scheme who provides it to issuer and dispute is settled if merchant is not at fault as per provided evidence. In case merchant is at fault, merchant has to refund to the customer. The issuer and merchant may opt for arbitration in case they don’t agree with each other. If merchant loses the arbitration case, they will have to refund the transaction and also bear a penalty of $400. In case issuer loses the case, issuer bears the penalty and merchant keeps the funds of transaction.
