Who is a Non-Resident Pakistani (NRP)?

You are an NRP if as a Pakistani citizen you are staying abroad for employment or carrying on business outside Pakistan OR staying abroad under circumstances that indicate an intention for uncertain duration of stay abroad.

How do I open my account?

All you have to do is download the account opening form, fill it completely and attach the requisite documents. Send the completed application through Courier/Postal services to the provided address. The entire process is simple, fast and convenient.

How long does it take to open an account?

In most cases normally it takes 30 to 35 business days for the account opening after that you will receive your new account information (account number and procedure to log on to Netbanking). After that you will receive the Debit Card & Cheque Book in about 3 weeks time via courier on your registered mailing address.

How can I prevent delays in opening of the account?

Make sure you attach all the mentioned documents with your account opening form. Fill out all the mandatory fields and other information fields so that we have your complete information.

After your account opening requirements are received at UBL, we will verify the information you have provided & documents you have attached. Therefore, it is extremely important that the documents & information that you provide is correct and complete.

What documents I need to submit to open the NRP Direct account?

In order to open an NRP Direct account you have to submit the below documents:

  • Notarized Salary Slip
  • Notarized Proof of Employment
  • Notarized Reference of Employer
  • Notarized Proof of Business e.g. License; in case of Self-Employed Person
  • Notarized Copy of Passport; having valid visa on it OR any other proof of legal stay along with passport
  • Notarized Copy of NICOP / Smart NICOP / POC
  • Notarized Bank Account Statement

Can I have a joint account?

Yes, you can have a joint account.

How can I request for Debit Card?

To request your Debit Card, just login to UBL Netbanking and go to 'ATM Cards Management' page and follow the instructions.

What are Primary & Supplementary Debit cards?

Primary Debit Card is the main Debit Card issued in the name of the account holder. Supplementary Cards are additional cards against the same account but may bear a different name (e.g., wife's name, mother's name, etc.)

You must request your Primary Card before you can request a Supplementary Card. Your Primary card will be mailed to your registered mailing address. Although, you cannot use this card in other countries but you can carry the card with you on your visits to Pakistan. If you choose to request one or more supplementary cards, the cards will be mailed to the beneficiary.
